The Inter-University Karate Turkey Championship will be held at MAKÜ

The Inter-University Karate Turkey Championship organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) will be held between January 29-31, 2026, hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ).

The championship, which will be attended by 203 athletes from 50 universities across Turkey along with 70 administrators and coaches, will be an important sports event in Burdur. During the three-day event, athletes will compete on the tatami for the Turkey championship.

The organization of the championship in Burdur is of great importance in terms of making a significant contribution to the local economy, especially in accommodation, food and beverage, and transportation. The activity created by the athlete delegations and guests in the city during the organization will also bring vitality to the tradesmen.

MAKÜ, which stands out with its modern sports facilities and infrastructure, will once again highlight its identity as a “athlete-friendly campus” and “athlete campus” with this organization. MAKÜ’s experience in hosting sports organizations will contribute to the successful completion of the championship.

11 national championships, 12 months of sports in Burdur

The Karate Turkey Championship will be the second sports event hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2026. The first was the Inter-University League Kickboxing Turkey Championship held between January 16-18. According to the confirmed organizations in the 2026 activity calendar of the Turkish University Sports Federation, MAKÜ will host Turkey Championships in 11 different branches during the January–May 2026 period.

These organizations cover a wide range including kickboxing, karate, muay thai, arm wrestling, chess, wrestling, taekwondo, table tennis, sports drone, and men’s–women’s football championships. Considering the participation data from the previous year, thousands of athletes, coaches, and administrators will come to Burdur for these 11 organizations.

The Karate Turkey Championship organized within the scope of the Inter-University League (ÜNİLİG) makes a significant contribution to both the development of university sports and the national promotion of Burdur.
